Tourniquet recording new album in August 2010
Posted by RNS Robot on March 9th, 2010Legendary Christian thrash/progressive metal group TOURNIQUET is preparing to record a new album in late summer 2010. The line-up is Luke Easter (Vocals), Aaron Guerra (guitars), and Ted Kirkpatrick (drums). The group’s most recent release was 2003′s Where Moth & Rust Destroy. Additionally, drummer/main songwriter/insane genius Ted Kirkpatrick is putting out two solo albums with two completely different themes… Ode to a Roadkill releases March 17th, while In the Shadow of the Masters is available March 30th.
I’ve always found Tourniquet fascinating for the sheer technical complexity of their music and lyrics. In many ways their sound is closer to ‘classical’ music than ‘metal’ in terms of movements, parts and composition. They may be a ‘Christian’ metal band but they’re also signed to Metal Blade Records. Ted Kirkpatrick is regarded as one of metal’s top drummers by those in the know. He also studies rare insects and butterflies. Additionally, members of the group are outspoken animal rights advocates. Heck, for a few years they even sold their own line of fair-trade coffee (sadly, you can no longer buy the hilariously named “Bearing Brazilian Cargo” or “Healing Waters of Sumatra”).
