THE CONCERT LIST

Posted by RNS Robot on February 18th, 2010

Time to update my list of Bands I Have Seen Live.

I am not listing every single band I’ve ever seen. There are plenty of opening acts I was forced to sit through to get to the main event. Festivals are similar… lots of bands I “saw” but don’t care about having seen. It’s basically about the bands I’m really stoked I saw in concert, and then a couple additional lists.

THE BIG LIST
Matthew Good (six times – three Matthew Good Band, three solo)
The Tea Party (amazing)
54.40 (twice)
Big Sugar (twice – hot band)
Moist
Social Code (as Fifth Season, opened for Tea Party, killed it)
Crowned King
The Trews (best show ever? Seriously.)
Mad Bomber Society
Jars of Clay
Burlap to Cashmere (fantastic)
Project 86 (four times including Cornerstone performance)
Underoath
He Is Legend
MuteMath (Harvest Moon, Vancouver, Seattle)
The Weakerthans
Arrogant Worms
Starflyer 59 (Americana era – but didn’t pay attention…)
Skillet (twice – 2001 and 2009)
Venere (twice – once at Creation2003)
Riley Armstrong
Grammatrain (2009 Reunion show)
Danielson Famile
David Bazan (twice – in Vancouver, and at Cornerstone 2009)
Pedro The Lion (2004)
Ryan Dahle (2009)
The Flaming Lips (even if it was ruined by a drama queen)
STRYPER (2009)
David Crowder Band
Seven Devil Fix
Stavesacre (Cornerstone 2009 – key reason we went)
mewithoutYou (Cornerstone 2009, just amazing…)

FESTIVALS
Harvest Moon Festivals 2004 & 2005
The Listening
Thousand Foot Krutch
Miranda Stone
Pigeon John
Brave Saint Saturn
Roper
Anberlin
Blindside
GRITS

Creation Festival 2003
The Benjamin Gate
Rock N Roll Worship Circus
Bleach (acoustic set, just days after the Byer’s brother was killed in Iraq – profoundly moving)
Pillar
Third Day

Cornerstone 2009
The Crucified
Relient K (I only caught half their set)
Showbread
The Showdown (SO TUFF)
Coriolis
Lost Dogs
Grave Robber (THERE WILL BE BLOOD! Also, zombie sock hop)
Red
Family Force 5 (WTF but fun)
Children 18:3
White Collar Sideshow (only ten minutes of a set…)
Bill Malonee
Living Sacrifice

Bands I saw but have no real opinion of but you might have heard of them or sort of saw parts of their set like at a festival, you know, but not really being part of the show, or didn’t really like them, or didn’t really appreciate it at the time, but I saw them at any rate and so they are here
thebleedingalarm
Stutterfly
Cry of the Afflicted (their first show)
Gob (well not terrible but why were they opening for Matt and Moist??)
Delirious?
Thousand Foot Krutch
Limblifter (opened for Matt Good in 2005 – disappointing but at least I saw ‘em)
Auf Der Maur
Destroyer
Liz Phair
HIMSA
P:ano
Esther Drang
Cryptacize
Fair
Manic Drive

These bands sucked enough I want to make explicit how much they suck
We Are The Becoming
Silverstein
Moneen
That lousy “act” that “opened” for Weakerthans.

bands I want to see before I die or they die or break up
Smashing Pumpkins (even if it’s only Corgan, it’s the closest I’ll get)
Joy Electric
David Bowie
The Who (as long as Townshend is still rocking)
Foo Fighters
Thrice
Beck
Collective Soul
Michael Knott
Weird Al

Bands I wish I could have seen and never will be able to
Nirvana
Circle of Dust
Massivivid
Skillet’s original line-up (Ken Steorts on guitar)
More Skillet pre-Collide
age of electric
Bleach (full out rock Bleach)
Common Children
dc talk (maybe one day?)
Econoline Crush (during the “Devil You Know days)
Five Iron Frenzy
Grateful Dead (w/Garcia)
Plankeye

So when I die, I won’t say “Man I never went to concerts.”
