*Limblifter & The Age of Electric albums have been re-released digitally on iTunes (as of December 8th). You can now buy Limblifter and Bellaclava albums, as well as AoE’s The Age of Electric and Make a Pest a Pet discs. Great albums well worth checking out for the first time, or hearing again. *Stryper (my new favorite old band) participated in the 86th annual NYSE Euronext holiday tree lighting festivities this past Thursday, December 10th. Stryper joined the likes of Billy Ray Cyrus, Twisted Sister, Collective Soul and more for the event. (Source: HM)

*In anticipation of their long-awaited new album The Infinite Order, Living Sacrifice has posted a new song called “Rules of Engagement” on iTunes. You can also pre-order the album at Zambooie. One thing is for sure: That is some sick cover art. (source: HM)

*Did you know GRAVE ROBBER? No? Well you should! Get their latest horror-punk epic Inner Sanctum here or here! GET POSSESSED BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

*Plumb hits the top of the Billboard dance/club charts as the Digital Dog Radio Remix of “Hang On” takes the #1 spot for the week of December 19th, beating out club tunes from Lady GaGa and Janet Jackson. It’s one of many remixes on Beautiful History, which may not be a comprehensive ‘hits’ project, but the remixes are awesome. Happy Plumb is still makin’ tunes after it seemed like she was done after only two albums. Geez, that was almost ten years ago now… (source: Billboard)

*This isn’t really news, but… The 2010 Grammy Award nominations are out. Talk about completely irrelevant, out of touch, and hilariously awful.

*Proving once and for all that sales don’t equal quality music (and that the masses like ear rape), Nickelback have been named ‘Band of the Decade’ by Billboard. They’ve sold THIRTY. MILLION. RECORDS over the past ten years, through four albums. Pretty impressive for a band that literally writes the same fucking song over and over again.

In related news, they were also recently voted Worst Band In The World. (source: ChartAttack)

*Nineties Canadian alt-rockers Thrush Hermit are reuniting for a few shows in 2010. (source: ChartAttack)

*…Huh! I’m not a huge fan of Our Lady Peace, and really don’t think they’re worth the praise they’ve received over the past decade and a half, but this is some cool news: the band is going to tour next year and focus on their two best albums, their single-spawning Clumsy and the under-appreciate Spiritual Machines. They’re doing two shows per city, two sets each night, with the first playing either of those two albums in their entirety, and the second set featuring songs from the band’s entire discography. With no new album to ‘tour’ right now, that’s a pretty wicked concert concept. That’s an OLP show I’m going to! (source: ChartAttack)

*Billy Corgan regrets disbanding Smashing Pumpkins (it’s just Smashing Pumpkins, no THE). I’ve always been a big Pumpkins fan, but haven’t gotten into any of the reunited stuff. I was thinking of seeing them live but lost interest when Jimmy Chamberlin quit. I could see an SP line-up without D’Arcy (really, she’s replaceable), Iha less so, but Chamberlin’s drumming is such a key piece of their sound. Then again, Adore is like my 2nd favorite SP disc and it’s all drum machines. If they’d tried that twice it probably would not have worked. Still, what a great band – and Corgan is one of the more under-appreciated guitar players of the nineties. (source: CANOE)

  1. Actually, OLP does have a “new” album: 2009′s “Burn, Burn.”

  2. Good point Jerry. What I meant to say was that the band isn’t ‘touring’ a new album in 2010. It’s just a tour for the hell of it with a neat twist, not focused on promoting the new material. http://www.ourladypeace.cc has tour dates up that list which album the band will be doing at each stop.
